Melinda grew up and has lived in St. louis Missouri all of her life. As a young child she learned how to paint from her grandfather who learned from his mother Eleanor Hartwell, well know St. Louis artist in the early part of the  20th century and member of St. Louis Artist Guild. Melinda continued her art through out high school where she won various awards. After high school she headed off to William Woods University to pursue her degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts. It was no coincedence that Melinda found herself at a college that had a wonderful equestrian program, as she had been riding for pleasure most of her life and was eager to learn more about riding and horses. Her love for all things equine is reflected in her art.
